Tim Burton Horrified by AI-Generated Artwork That Copies His Fashion

Somebody obtained an AI artwork generator to crib Tim Burton’s instantly-recognizable model — and the famed gothy director himself is having none of it.

In an interview with The Unbiased, Burton blasted BuzzFeed — which, we should remind you, has been struggling its personal AI debacle in latest months — for its listicle depicting Disney characters in his signature model.

“I can’t describe the sensation it offers you,” the filmmaker instructed the British newspaper of seeing his model mimicked by machines. “It jogged my memory of when different cultures say, ‘Don’t take my image as a result of it’s taking away your soul.'”

Burton’s feedback are harking back to fellow inventive Nick Cave, who has twice now taken to his weblog to lambaste AI for stealing the soul from artwork — together with his personal.

“What it does is it sucks one thing from you,” Burton defined. “It takes one thing out of your soul or psyche; that may be very disturbing, particularly if it has to do with you. It’s like a robotic taking your humanity, your soul.”

Inventive Varieties
